7 Lamp Shade Makeover

I've really been into black and white patterns with splashes of color recently. I've seen a few different snow leopard designs and I saw one woman makeover a slip cover using permanent marker. I was a little nervous trying it on something so big, so I did a lamp shade instead.

I saw this lamp shade at Ikea and knew I could fancy it up somehow. Glad I snagged it.

I grabbed a permanent marker and went at it. I noticed it started looking too "patterny" so I went in the family room and watched a movie so I didn't think about it too much.
I bought the lamp at Goodwill maybe 4 years ago for $2.

  1. Love it - simple idea but a big effect. Leopard print can sometimes have a tacky factor but just black and white is super classy. Lucky for you the IKEA lampshade fit the base properly. They make their lampshades specifically so they only work with IKEA lamp bases. Great tutorial!

    1. Thank you! I realized afterwards that Ikea's lamp shades only work with their lamps. Eek! I think I was able to make it work though. Let's hope it lasts :)

  2. I can't wait to see your house when it's done!! Knowing you it's going to be amaza-zing!

  3. Looks awesome! I love this idea!

  4. Clever and lovely, Danielle! You did a great job on that lampshade. Who woulda thunk?!

  5. Super cute, Danielle! Love it! The most amazing creativity I ever tapped in to was when I was poor and had a .10 budget! I can see you are finding that place too!

  6. Purchasing the right magnifying lamp fixture could be a struggle. It requires information about these kinds of unique units and in many cases, persons have got not really dealt with them sufficient to recognise what to find in one. They may be normally employed if you should consistently have a look at physical objects in depth or if you have to accomplish some sort of fine process pots an individual to have a close up take on a product.lamps
