12 Happy Birthday Grams!!!

Palatka, Florida 1950 something...
Today is my grandmother,
Miss NANCY SUE'S birthday.
Let us celebrate.
My Grandmother is just the BEST. She is loved by so many!

She has been through more than anyone I know & has had many challenges in her life, yet she has looked to Heavenly Father through all of her many struggles. I can't even imagine the pain that she's felt in her lifetime, but still, if i'm complaining about some boy problem, she just acts like that's the most terrible thing & feels so sorry for me. So completely selfless.

When we were younger, she would have one of us 4 kids spend the night one Saturday a month at her house. Rach, Spence, Chase & I would rotate on who went over. When we went, she'd have treats for us & we got to pick out whatever movie we wanted & we'd watch it together & then fall asleep in her ginormous bed. She has definitely instilled a love of movies. I have such wonderful memories of living in Florida as a child & going to her house. We'd swim our little booties off in her pool. She'd come with us to Disney World (only the best place on earth). She would set towels underneath the table & we'd play with playdough. She'd buy one coloring book & copy each page 4 times so Rach, Steph, Kris & I wouldn't fight over who got which one, then she'd put them in our own folders. That made me feel special. We listened to Aladdin tapes in her car.
Now, she has her own separate apartment in our house, so i can just walk right over to see her. We feel so blessed to have her close by. Last summer I'd go to my grandmother's place & just sit & talk for hours with her. It's so easy to talk to her because she is so open minded & just listens to your struggles & issues. Since I'm older, I guess she felt it was appropriate to talk about a lot of things from her past that were too grown up for me to handle when I was younger (clarification: it's nothing SHE did, just stuff that's happened to her!). I was able to see once again her patience & trust in the Lord that everything would work out fine. She also talked to me about recent things that have been going on & how it hurts her to see those things, yet, she remained completely loyal to the people involved & expressed their love for them. She only wants the best for other people & has such a forgiving heart.
Southern Belle to a T.
{and she has a cute accent!}
She's the most optimistic person i know.
She's the most grateful person i know.
She's the most cheerful person i know.
She's a cool g-ma. She likes American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance & she always laughs at me.
We also share common interests. Like shopping & cooking. She has 4 children, 14 grandchildren & 1 great-granddaughter and a few brand spankin' new grandson-in-laws. She's been blessed for the good life she's lived!

We LOVE YOU!
***And if there's any single men in their 60's looking at this now, she's single. While I say that, I hope 60 year old men don't look at my blog.
And she rocks.
Just throwing that out there.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
