9 New Chapter.

We are here in Tucson and feeling settled. In fact, my name is offically Danielle Kent now and I have an Arizona license plate and drivers license.

My drivers license picture is straight up hilarious. No seriously, I busted up laughing when I saw it. It's horrible and my hair looks like I went rolling through a hay field right before I took it. So cool.

I am taking the whole Arizona thing a little too seriously.
Welcome to our front porch.
Please don't trip over the step or the cacti will teach you a very important lesson. Yikes. I might need to have people sign a waiver before coming up our steps.

From anyone who has had a son/daughter/brother/sister/husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend in medical school, I keep hearing, find lots of hobbies because you will have LOTS of alone time. Yeah, umm that's not even going to be a problem. Shall we refer back to the last DECADE of my life? I have more hobbies than anyone would know what to do with. Got my room set up so I can begin.

A few people have been asking me if I will be teaching this next year, and the answer is no. It's honestly breaking my heart a little bit. We were in Target the other day and I saw all the parents helping their kids collect their school supplies and my heart just sank.

In the spring, I started to have a feeling I wouldn't be teaching again, at least for now. It was extra hard because I loved my class so much last year and the thought of not having another fun year like that was a little disheartening. With Sean getting into med school, I knew and had heard he'd be working really long, exhausting days. If I were to teach, I'd be working really long, exhausting days. I knew things on the home front still needed to be taken care of and felt it would probably just be best to work an 8 to 5 job. Teaching is definitely not an 8 to 5 job.

Through a series of very, very fortunate events and thanks to my good friend Raegan and the grace of God, I got a job working at the University of Arizona Hospital as a cardiology research specialist. Blessed does not even begin to tell you how I feel. First perk, I get to drive with Sean to work everyday and we are hoping to be able to have lunch together on occasion. I know how little I will see him, so this is big! And secondly, because I work for the hospital, Sean will get free tuition for medical school. Yes, as unbelievable as it is, it's true.

We are hoping to make it out of medical school taking out zero student loans and living off my little pay check. We will see. We have an intense budget system where we literally have stuffed envelopes with cash for groceries, date nights, bills, etc. Everything has a category it belongs in.
(Look forward to many FREE do it yourself projects because that's the amount of money I have to work with!)

I keep picturing myself as one of the von Trapp children in Sound of Music wearing a dress of drapes in 3 years because I can't take it anymore. Umm that would be hilarious.

Anyways, life is just grand. Feeling blessed and happy. Sean starts medical school Monday and I start my job. And we both get to wear white lab coats. Go us.
