5 What's in a Name?

Today our family was playing cards and my sister and I decided we really need to discuss what our kids will call their grandparents when the time comes.

Because Rachel and I have the maturity level combined of an 8 year old, we wanted to come up with something that would not only embarrass my parents but also our kids.

For example, I thought of Pee Pee and Poo Poo. How awkward would it be to tell your friends in high school that you were going to your Pee Pee and Poo Poo's house for Christmas??

Rachel reeeeallly wants Big Momma for my mom. In fact, she scratched out her name on the scoreboard for our card game from Mom to Big Momma and proceeded to only call her that the rest of the day. The only reason I'm against Big Momma is because my dad would be Big Poppa and that makes me uncomfortable.

I also thought of Grumps (my dad) and Cramps (my mom) because I think it's cruel and hilarious. I tested it out on my mom to see if it worked, "Yo Cramps, can you pass me my water?"
I loved it. She did not love it.

Then Rachel thought of Chip and Dale. We pictured our kids in the back of the car, "Can we go to CHIPPENDALES?" Then chanting, "CHIPPENDALES! CHIPPENDALES! CHIPPENDALES!"

What about Grumpy and Frumpy?

My mom was being soooooooo difficult and said she hated all our ideas and our kids weren't invited over if they called her Cramps or Pee Pee. We tried to negotiate and told her that if she didn't want to be called those names then she'd have to pay one grandchild's college tuition per family. We're trying to be reasonable but she's just being stubborn. Maybe we should have our kids call her Picky Grandma or Whiny Granny for how she's acting.

However, I do need to hand my mom credit for her good attitude tonight. We discussed how Rachel's kids will literally never stop talking because Rachel never stops talking and my mom, quote, said, "Yeah, when your kids come visit, after a few hours I'll say, 'Okay, Cramps is tired. Cramps needs you to go home."

What do your kids call your parents? Is it entertaining and original or is it normal and boring? We need some more ideas!

  1. HAHA this is so hilarious. My father in law has jokingly told us that he wants to be called TK421 (something from Star Wars I guess? Ha!). Needless to say, I think I would pick poo poo or pee pee over that ;)

  3. As previously (and geniusly) mentioned, "you need to write a book!" Hysterical! I'm Nini (like mimi with n's instead of m's ;) because that's what Savannah started calling me when she tried to say Nana.

  5. You are totally cracking me up here! We are Grammy & Pops, but I'm totally into your idea of Chippendales -- I think that's original and hilarious, and would be a fun-fact for me to tell all our friends when we're with your parents! That has my vote!
