4 Down to the Crick!

I AM SO TIRED!

That was actually pretty dramatic because I'm not the most tired I've ever been, just tired enough that I'll sleep really well tonight and probably all weekend.

We had the best field trip today down to Diamond Fork Canyon. The kids were in 9 year old heaven and I am so serious right now.

We have been studying biomes in class. They are obsessed and cannot stop talking about biomes, habitats, adaptations and classification. I hear them talking about it at lunch and recess. Adorbs. We have been doing so many fun things in class to build background knowledge but being outside and putting all of their new knowledge to work was so much fun for them and for me to watch!

Let's keep our little friends annonymous here, but you really need to see our day!

Waders on, ready to go explore!

I was pretty impressed with how brave they were catching all the creepy crawlers in their hands but they were impressed when I was just snagging those nasty bugs out of the nets and holding them. "MISS STOLWORTHY! HOW ARE YOU NOT SCARED??" Because children, I'm from the dirty dirty south and played in the creek everyday after school and have held nastier things than this, that's how.

Could not have hand picked a more perfect day. It was beautiful!

They were so excited to be outside learning and had so much energy all day. They always fall asleep on our bus ride back from skiing in December, so I was sure they'd be tuckered out and pass out in the back of the bus, but I was wrong. 99 bottles of Sprite on the wall all. the. way. home.
Whew! What a day!

Sidenote: I don't think I've talked a lot about how much I LOVE my class this year. They are curious, kind, clever, funny and hard working. We are laughing and learning everyday. Great group and I totally lucked out.

They want a class pet SO bad and since we've been studying wetlands, they really want a beaver. We've learned all about beavers and the kids think they are amazing. But last I checked, Petsmart doesn't sell beavers which is too bad because they've already decided they want to name him Justin Beaver.
Oh em gee.
Amazing.

You also need to know that this is what I had for dinner. Ate it all. Total fat kid status.

  2. Loved this post. I also love that right next to whatever it is that you had for dinner, which maybe looks like frozen yogurt is your gym membership :)

  4. Danielle, you did such a great job with the pictures, and the write up that I totally was out there in the forest with you all. I could almost smell the gentle breeze blowing by, too. Thanks for sharing your inspiring stories and this was one of them!
