3 A Kind of Sort of Sick Day

Yesterday morning, I woke up around 5am to finish my sub plans and went into school to lay them all out and make copies.
I wasn't feeling sick, so I started feeling a little guilty for taking the day off, but since I had made sub plans I decided to just go with it in case I didn't feel well later on.
Around 7am, one of my best friends, Allison, texted me and said she started having contractions around 3am. Umm, yeah, it's impossible to fall asleep after a text like that. My mom also made me feel better about taking the day off saying it was National Cheetah Cub Day and I didn't need to go to work, so thanks Al, for popping out your baby. Pretty thoughtful of you.
I'll share with you some of the things I did on my sick day to distract myself just in case you have a sick day that's not totally a sick day and you need ideas:
You could watch a movie. You could even watch Baby Mama if your friend is in labor on the day you're home, plus, it's totally funny.

You could snuggle with your dude.

You could do your nails in bed which is something I wasn't allowed to do growing up.

You could get ready for Utah winters and make some freezer meals for you and your friends.

I don't know, just some suggestions.

Labor is really hard and takes a long time guys. I don't know this because I've been in labor, I know this because I waited quite impatiently all day to hear from Sam or Al.

Around 6pm though, Allison's husband texted me. I had told Sam earlier in the day that if he needed me to do anything, I was up for it because I wasn't at work. Well, Sam needed Filibertos.

Now, because I'm not a boy and because I don't live with a boy, I did not know where Filibertos was, but I took a guess and turns out I was right. Got it to go, and I was off to the hospital!

I have honestly never seen a prettier newborn. She didn't even have puffy/squished face and a cone head. I could've held her for 8 billion hours but I wanted to let the new family be. I'll probably just bug them tomorrow and the next day and the next day instead.

Three hours old & as perfect as they come!

So, next time you think you're sick and you take the day off, try to make sure your friend isn't going to pop out a baby. It makes the day extra long and the time goes by super slow. But if your friend is having a baby, bring her husband dinner because that's a quick ticket to be the new baby's very first visitor.
Just a little Budha wisdom for you, for free.

Of course today I was back at school. This morning, when I walked into class, one of my kids said, "Miss Stolworthy! I had a NIGHTMARE last night that you were still sick and didn't come to school today!"
Nightmare, huh? I'll take that as a compliment.
