Yesterday when I was shopping at Gateway Mall, I saw several homeless people and then I just felt really stupid passing them by with my bags full of new clothes. (P.S. Please refer to my previous post where I JUST made a rule to not buy anymore clothes.... WHAT?! I stink.)
I know lots of people do different things to help the homeless. My roommate Nat always keeps a few dollar bills in her purse.
People are so clever! I found the idea of making 'Blessing Bags' for the homeless on the internet and decided to make some today.
For each bag:
Baby Wipes
Chapstick
Deoderant
Body Wash
Shampoo
Tissues
Lotion
Mouth Wash
Gum
Goldfish
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Brush/Mirror
Granola Bars
I ended up also putting some loose change in a ziploc bag
Total cost per bag was about $13 although I'm sure you could do it for cheaper.
Now I'll just stick them in my car! I only made two this time around but I'm excited to give them away!
Enough Mother Teresa for one day. I think I'm going to go lay out.
there are lots of people in St. Geezy that need those bags. head on down...
ReplyDeletebe careful. I gave a homeless man some individually wrapped snacks once and then he followed me to my car and tried to open the door as i drove away. so scary.
ReplyDeleteI will be careful! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet project! I love that you have that tender heart to love and care for the less fortunate. And yes, be careful and be wise!
ReplyDeleteYou're so inspirational, I loved this! Thanks for the great idea!
