3 Tried & True

Throughout the week I try to cook yummy, healthy dinners. One of my goals is to cook one new recipe a week. I know this is nothing new in the blog world, but I decided that whatever new recipe I cook, I'll post on the blog with a rating in case my blog friends want to try it out.
Tonight we ate Poblano Peppers and Corn.
I told Sean I was going to need a rating from 1-10.
I'm still not sure if he thought it was all a big joke. He started acting like he was on the Food Network.
"I give it a 10 Danielle. You really outdid yourself on this one. Best thing you've ever cooked."
"No Sean, seriously, I need you to actually tell me. It's not a reflection of my cooking, it's just your judgement of the recipe itself."
"No, I'm being serious. It's a 10. I mean, it has lots of color, it's...."

Okay, so I still don't know how serious he was, but I give it an 8.

It was really, really good! The only thing is, a few of the ingredients we didn't have on hand and you do have to be pretty good about getting a lot of things going at once. The corn and peppers were grilling on the porch, I was blending the cilantro lime sauce in the Vitamix and the quinoa was on the stove.

I mean, I can pat my head and rub my tummy at the same time so it wasn't a huge deal but there is a little bit of prep work involved.

It was good, and it tasted fresh, and it wasn't heavy.

Average score in the Kent house: 9

I'd say tried and true week number one is a success!

  2. Haha! I wish I could be food network judge, or even a contestant on chopped. I probably make more than 1 new recipe a week now, what with having to keep up my food blog and all, but I first started 1 new recipe a week and that's how my love for cooking grew. It looks like your fitting into your wifely duties quite well. Okay I won't lie, I definitely don't cook dinner everynight, so way to go! Ps. This looks yummy. Quinoa?! Might have to try this!
