Disillusionment - A combination of stress, exhaustion, illness, and overwhelming responsibilities can throw a teacher into a "pit of despair." Your tendency may be to focus on what hasn't been accomplished and what has gone wrong over the past several months. Report cards, parent-teacher conferences, and your first teacher evaluation are looming. Classroom management issues can be discouraging. Many new teachers consider leaving the profession during this stage.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure it is difficult being a school teacher the first year. I'm sure you had so many expectations on how it will be and some have come and some not so much. But, you are a great person. You are so optimistic and find joy and happiness in everything. You'll pull through and be just fine. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteSorry you're in the pits right now - let me know if there's anything I can do to help! Looking at this graph sure makes me excited to teach next fall... lol. I hear with elementary school it just helps having some extra adults in the room so if ever you're doing a special project day or any day where you just especially need more help, give me a call and I'll see if I can come - I'm not great with kids (why I'm teaching high school...), but its an extra pair of eyes and hands. I love you Danielle! you can do it!
