5 franklin, tn

I am from Franklin, Tennessee right outside of Nashville. I absolutely love everything about home. Franklin is the most darling little city with the old, small town feel. There's so much to do with it being right outside of Nashville. Franklin was named after Ben Franklin & founded in 1799 & it still has a lot of the old sites & homes from back in the day. Franklin is where the "Battle of Franklin" took place in the Civil War (shocking, i know). So there are also a lot of Civil War sites that are very interesting.

Franklin is home to Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Trace Adkins, Kix Brooks, Miley Cyrus, Sheryl Crow, Sara Evans, Alan Jackson, the band Paramore, the Judd sisters & Brad Paisley.
And even though it's a little city, it's put it's name on the map for:
· Money Magazine's Top 10 Places to Retire
· Money Magazine's Top 100 Best Places to Live
· Clean Cities Award (TN Department of Transportation)
· Tree City USA
· Great American Main Street Award
· Preserve America Community
· Number One Small Town in Tennessee
· Reader's Choice Award for Natchez Trace Parkway/Scenic Drive
· One of Five Best Places in America to Antique Shop
· City of Franklin makes the list of Top Ten Hot U.S. Destinations for 2007
· And recently, wealthiest counties in the country
(thanks to all those country music stars I’m sure!)

I can't seem to ever get my BYU friends out to Tennesse, so I'm just going to write a blog to show you some of my favorite things about Franklin...

It's the most charming place! If you love to
shop at cute boutiques, this is your stop!

They always change the banners downtown to
match the seasons. I think it's just adorable.

Trolleys take you anywhere.

This is Franklin Square in downtown.
Great place to hang out in highschool.
I can still see the floats for the homecoming parade!

Natchez Trace Bridge.
One of my favorite places in Franklin because
my house is right by it & of course it's stunning!

Carnton Plantation.
There are several plantations from the Civil War in Franklin, but the Carnton Mansion is my favorite. I love the stories from this tour! We took family portraits here when I was about 12 & it was hot & we were cranky!

The Factory at Franklin.
Oh how I love the Factory! A hundred years ago it was a... factory, so the history is awesome but now there are tons of cute shops!

And how could we forget Cool Springs! This is the newer
shopping part of Franklin that I know too well...
